Book Club Announcement

PA CASA recently announced our new Book Club selection, My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies, by Resmaa Menakem.

PA CASA is excited to invite CASA volunteers and staff to join us for a discussion on My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies. This book offers a different view of what we can do to heal and go beyond the racialized divide. Therapist Resmaa Menakem examines the damage caused by racism in America from the perspective of trauma and body-centered psychology.

Resmaa Menakem, MSW, LICSW, SEP, is a leading voice in today’s conversation on racialized trauma and the creator of Cultural Somatics, which utilizes the body and its natural resilience as mechanisms for growth. As a therapist and the founder of Justice Leadership Solutions, a leadership consulting firm, Resmaa dedicates his expertise to coaching leaders through civil unrest, organizational change, and community building

The book is divided into three parts. In an effort to create a space for meaningful reflection and discussion, there will be an opportunity to join a discussion focused on each part of the book.

The book discussion dates are as follows:
