About the 2023 Conference

The PA CASA Conference is a two-day event on Tuesday, April 25, and Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Hosted in the Commonwealth’s capital city, the Conference offers an essential continuing education opportunity for our dedicated CASA volunteers, staff, board members, and child welfare stakeholders, who strive to change the lives of our most vulnerable children. The Conference brings everyone throughout the PA CASA community together to learn about driving outcomes for children through the power of storytelling and data collection.

Advocating for Outcomes: Advancing Child Advocacy through Storytelling and Data

CASA volunteers impact the lives of children who have experienced abuse and neglect each day in Pennsylvania. The 2023 PA CASA Conference will amplify the work of the CASA movement across the Commonwealth by providing a variety of techniques to tell powerful stories and strategies for improving outcomes for children. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops and network with like-minded individuals committed to making a difference in the lives of children. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, attendees will leave with concrete tools and strategies for harnessing the power of storytelling and data collection to create lasting impact in the field of child advocacy.

Programming will include specialized workshops that will address the interests of CASA volunteers, staff, and board members.

The Future of Storytelling for Social Impact:
What Will Change, What Won’t, and Why it Matters

You may not consider yourself to be a storyteller, but you are. We cannot live through a single day without sharing stories and being influenced by them. The process of storytelling is one of the things that makes us uniquely human, and the telling, listening, and amplification of stories can and does create social impact. Yet, we must also evolve how we utilize this ancient form of connection in strategically modern ways in order to realize more ethical and equitable social impact through our work changing a child’s story across Pennsylvania. Join story scientist, Dr. John Trybus of Georgetown University, on a journey through the past, present, and future of storytelling for social impact.
