York County CASA Announces New Director

York County CASA welcomes Mercedes Baumgardner to head their organization.

Mercedes Baumgardner
“As I take upon this new role, I also embrace it with humility, gratitude, responsibility, and accountability.”
-Mercedes Baumgardner

Mercedes comes to the York County CASA program as a Senior Juvenile Dependency Clerk, with several years of direct experience in the York County dependency system.  She has also had several years of managerial and training experience.

Mercedes was born and raised in the city of Manila, the Philippines’ capital.  She married a gentleman from Gettysburg, PA nearly ten years ago, and subsequently moved from the Philippines to York County PA.  Mercedes is blessed with three children and three grandchildren, who keep her going every single day. Family is everything to her!

A tennis enthusiast, Mercedes has not had much time for her favorite sport since moving to the states.  Her fondness for cooking and baking keeps her busy during her free time.  In everything she does, Mercedes gives a hundred and ten percent of herself and she believes in doing things right the first time.  She is excited to take on her new role as CASA Coordinator as she believes in making a difference in people’s lives and strongly advocates for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the York County Judicial System.   We anticipate that Mercedes will lead the CASA program further along on its path of excellence in the years ahead.
