Distant but Determined

As we close the door on this most unusual and challenging year, we want to thank everyone who supported PA CASA and our affiliates across the Commonwealth.

The statement so frequently heard this year – “We’re all in this together” – seems especially applicable to Court Appointed Special Advocates. While the global pandemic made connecting with kids more challenging, the heart behind our volunteers shined more brightly than ever!

Not only have we seen growth in volunteerism, but CASA volunteers have also shouldered new and unfamiliar situations with determination and optimism. And, seemingly out of nowhere, new volunteers have come forward to offer help or answer a call!

Local CASA programs have been especially hard hit by the cancellation of fundraising events and other programming. Yet, we have seen people stepping up in different ways to help keep these vital organizations operating.

As a result, PA CASA has remained fully engaged in our mission “to grow, strengthen, and unite local CASA programs so they can ensure the safety, well-being, and forever home for every abused and/or neglected child in Pennsylvania.” We have adapted to pandemic restrictions by providing online educational programming, virtual meetings, and a steady flow of communications. In addition, we have responded to an unprecedented surge of inquiries and requests for information. We are seeing interest in new programs being developed and are connecting with new stakeholders who are very optimistic about PA CASA’s future. By these measures, it has been an incredibly successful year!

It is you – our supporters, our volunteers, our affiliates, our program participants, and our donors — who have done so much to make this possible.
On behalf of the entire team at PA CASA, “thank you for all you do!” We send you our very best wishes for a Happy New Year!

With much gratitude,

Jennifer DeBalko
Executive Director
Pennsylvania Court Appointed Special Advocates Association
